While this is a fun time
for people and pets, your pets are depend on you to keep them safe from the
dangerous goblins that Halloween brings.
·
Don’t leave your pet outside for several days prior to, and after,
Halloween. Your pet may be at risk from pranks or cruelty related
incidents.
·
Make sure your dog or cat is wearing proper identification. If they
escape and become lost, a collar, tags and/or microchip increase the chances
that they will be returned to you.
·
Candy is not for pets. Chocolate is toxic to many animals. Candy
wrappers can be hazardous if swallowed.
·
Be careful with your pets and candles. Pets may knock a candle over
and cause a fire, or get their hair singed.
·
Loud and excessive noise from trick-or-treaters can frighten
pets. Keep pets who are sensitive to
noises, easily threatened by strangers, or are easily excitable away from the
door in order to prevent them from biting strangers, or running into the
street.
·
If you dress your pet in a costume, make sure the costume doesn’t
constrict the animal’s movement, block their vision, hearing, or ability to
breathe. Avoid dangling, small, items that your pet could chew, swallow or
choke on.
